[Map of irrigated lands adjacent to the Hacienda de Sant Inés (Mexico)]. [15--]

Map of unidentifed region near the Hacienda de Santa Inés which was roughly 20 miles north of Mexico City. Made to illustrate a legal action probably dating between 1550-1599; the suit involved a dispute between local Indians and ranchers over water rights, possibly regarding Lake Jaltocán or Lake Zumpango. Combines Indian and European symbols to identify several irrigation ditches, including the "rio bal verde," apparently a ditch dug by someone named Valverde. Also shows the properties of Cristóbal Rodríguez and Pedro de Alfaro, Indian properties and houses, uncultivated fields, the grounds and church of "San Francisco a San Andres," three roads, and possibly a mill site. Includes Spanish glosses; signed by court officials.
